Making a Difference! (MAD) Training of Educators

Making a Difference! (MAD) is an evidence-based, medically accurate teen pregnancy prevention curriculum. The curriculum’s goal is to provide youth with the knowledge, confidence, and skills necessary to reduce their risk of contracting HIV/AIDS, other sexually transmitted diseases, and pregnancy by abstaining from sex. Participants must attend both days to become certified educators for MAD.

Making Proud Choices (MPC) is an evidence-based, medically accurate teen pregnancy prevention curriculum. The curriculum’s goal is to provide youth with the knowledge, confidence, and skills necessary to reduce their risk of contracting HIV/AIDS, other sexually transmitted diseases, and pregnancy by abstaining from sex or using condoms if they choose to have sex. Participants must attend both training days to become certified educators for MPC.

Positive Prevention PLUS (P3) Training of Educators

Positive Prevention Plus (P3) is a comprehensive, evidence-based sexual health and teen pregnancy prevention curriculum for middle and high school aged students. Topics include STI’s, Abusive Relationships, Healthy Relationships, HIV, Contraception, and much more. Participants must attend all four days to become certified educators for P3.

Trauma Responsive Practices in Sex Education

Trauma-Responsive Practices in Sex Education will provide participants with information about the prevalence and impact of trauma on the brain and behavior, including the limitations of how trauma is assessed. This training will lead sex educators through taking a trauma-responsive approach within their classrooms and organizations, including creating an environment conducive to resilience and healing.

2SLGBTQIA+ Inclusivity in Sex Education

Most evidence-based sexual health education curricula address neither the information that directly apply to 2SLGBTQIA+ youth nor best-practices for truly engaging 2SLGBTQIA+ youth in sex ed. This training will equip educators with the tools they need to effectively neutralize their language, expand engagement strategies, and implement curricula adaptations to effectively serve LGBTQ+ youth.

Walking the Talk: How Youth-Centered is Your Work?

In this session, participants will learn valuable insights and best practices for replicating a youth-centered program model that shares power with young people, combats internalized Adultism, adapts to unforeseen challenges, and creates spaces where youth can authentically impact their community. This session will be interactive and motivating, with many opportunities to reflect on our work in collaboration with young people and to set goals for the programs that serve them.
