Mission

Advancing youth sexual health and well-being through education, collaboration, and advocacy

Vision

Informed Youth. Equitable Access.
Vibrant Communities.

Amplify is a youth health collective serving as the convening organization for youth sexual health work in Tulsa. We are building a true collective impact framework for our organization to better serve the community.

Tulsa has a robust system in place to reach youth. Amplify’s role is to nurture and support that system. We provide educator training, technical assistance, community outreach, data collection and analysis, and act as a convener for Tulsa’s youth-serving partners to create a strong network of organizations working together to advance youth sexual health in Tulsa.

Amplify Youth Health Collective…
  • brings people who were working in isolation together, in a structured way, to Amplify an issue and achieve social change
  • starts with a common agenda – meaning community partners come together to Amplify a problem and create a shared vision to solve it
  • establishes shared measurement, tracking progress in the same way to Amplify continuous improvement
  • fosters mutually reinforcing activities; coordinating collective efforts to Amplify lower teen birth rates, increase knowledge of community resources, and promote healthy relationships
  • encourages continuous communication; building trust and relationships among all participants to Amplify community efforts
  • has a team dedicated to Amplify the work of community partners

Our History

In 2013, the Tulsa Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy was created to address the critical issue of our high teen birth rate in Tulsa County. Partnering with organizations working in youth health by providing support, organization, and training for the implementation and expansion of sex education, its mission was to equip the community with strategies to reduce teen pregnancy for the purpose of improving health and economic well-being for all.

In 2018, we found consensus in the need of a new brand for our organization. While our former name clearly denoted the purpose of our organization, it was outdated in the way it portrayed our work and could potentially shame someone who experienced teen pregnancy. We invited community partners to provide feedback as we made critical decisions about where our organization would go and what it should look like.

In 2020, Amplify Youth Health Collective was officially launched, showcasing a vibrant new brand, expanding the influence of our work, and implementing innovative approaches to meet the needs of our partners and community through advocacy, collaboration, and education.

In 2013, the Tulsa Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy was created to address the critical issue of our high teen birth rate in Tulsa County. Our organization officially incorporated in August 2014 and obtained 501(c) 3 status in 2015.

Tulsa Campaign was developed as the backbone organization for teen pregnancy prevention work in Tulsa. Partnering with organizations working in youth health by providing support, organization, and training for the implementation and expansion of sex education, its mission was to equip the community with strategies to reduce teen pregnancy for the purpose of improving health and economic well-being for all.

In 2015, the Tulsa Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy launched the inaugural class of the Youth Leadership Council. The Youth Leadership Council had 5 core goals at the time of it’s inception:

– Inform and play an important role in community mobilization of teen pregnancy prevention efforts
– Ensure the teen pregnancy prevention efforts in Tulsa are guided by the perspectives and experience of Tulsa youth
– Put teen pregnancy prevention at the forefront of the minds of Tulsa-area youth and their community school networks
– Provide diverse youth with opportunities to develop as leaders, act as ambassadors and inspire other young people to take action
– Play an integral role in outreach and activities through organizing, evaluating and engaging

Tulsa Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy created a new strategic plan for 2018 – 2020.

Utilizing feedback from 50+ community partners, we found consensus in the need of a new brand for our organization. While our former name clearly denoted the purpose of our organization, it was outdated in the way it portrayed our work and could potentially shame someone who experienced teen pregnancy. We needed a new brand that conveyed our mission without excluding any of the communities we serve.

We knew we couldn’t make these changes on our own. We invited community partners to one of many round-table discussions as we made critical decisions about where our organization would go and what it should look like.

Our partners joined us in a collaborative naming session, mission and vision brainstorm, and supported us through the entire process of developing our new identity. Our new brand needed to effectively convey a true collective impact model which could highlight the diverse communities we work with.

Amplify officially launched to the public in November 2020.

Showcasing a vibrant new brand, expanding the influence of our work, and implementing innovative approaches to meet the needs of our partners and community through advocacy, collaboration, and education.

In 2021, a new strategy was developed. The 2022-2024 strategic plan honed our focus on collaboration, highlighting Amplify’s role in the collective to support our direct-service partners’ work, not duplicate efforts, and optimize resources where they are most needed in the community.

Amplify seeks to expand community engagement and increase partner capacity to achieve ambitious goals to bring sexual health and healthy relationship education and access to reproductive health resources to all young people in the greater Tulsa area.
